Former Resident of Morrison Dies Sunday

William J. Townsend, a former resident of Morrison and later of Dysart, died Sunday (1 Nov 1953) in a hospital in Rochester, Minn. Death was due to old age and complications. He was 80 years old.

Mr. Townsend was born in Ontario, Canada, June 8th, 1873. As a young man he came to Grundy county where he married Mary Lang at Morrison Sept. 20, 1898. The couple resided at Morrison several years after their marriage and then they moved to Dysart where they resided 25 years, during which time Mr. Townsend was engaged in the hardware business at Dysart. Several years ago the family moved to Rochester.

Surviving are the wife and five children, Mrs. Howard Fask, Rochester, Mrs. Norbert Page, Shreveport, La., Paul, Detroit, Mich., Homer, Council Bluffs, and John at Tama.

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church at Morrison Wednesday afternoon. Burial was in the Washington township cemetery.
