Manne Bakker Died of Cancer
Manne P. "Buster" Bakker, 67, died at his home at the east edge of Morrison Friday night, November 2 from lung cancer. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the First Baptist Church in Reinbeck with the Rev. Kenneth Wilhite officiating.
Mrs. Donald DeWolf presided at the organ and played "How Great Thou Art" as a musical interlude. Ushers were Kendall Walters, Ollie DeBerg, and Jim Tripp. Floral attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Vern Knaack and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Danielsen. Pallbearers were Francis Hopkins, Henry Stock, Walter Stock, Harry Cooley, Bill Cooley and Fred Walbaum. Burial was in the Washington township cemetery at Morrison.
Buster was born December 8, 1911 at Morrison, the son of Manne and Alta Parnell Bakker. He graduated from the Reinbeck high school.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys McCullough Goble-Bakker, a step-daughter, Bernita Newell of Reinbeck and step-grandson, David Newell of San Diego, Calif.
His father, Manne Bakker, was a Grundy County supervisor many years ago.
French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck was in charge of arrangements.
