Emery Barrick, Former Morrison Merchant, Dies

Emery Barrick, who for many years was engaged in the mercantile business in Morrision, died at the home of Charles Robinson at Reinbeck last Wednesday afternoon from pneumonia. He was 80 years old.

Funeral services were held at Reinbeck Friday afternoon with Rev. O. Sandbach in charge. Burial was in the Morrison cemetery.

Emery Barrick was a native of Pennsylvania. At the age of 20 he came to Morrison where he was employed in a store and in the post office.

A number of years later Mr. Barrick bought the Bogart store at Morrison. Two years later he partner. They remained in business together 20 years and the two men and their families moved to Reinbeck. Mr. Barrick took over the management of the Reinbeck Community store after moving to Reinbeck. In late years Mr. Barrick assisted Martin Martinusen in the feed business at Reinbeck.

Mr. Barrick was married to Eugenia Francis Morrison 54 years ago. They sold their home three years ago and since have shared took in Charles Robinson as a the Robinson home in Reinbeck.

Surviving besides the wife are: one daughter, Mrs. John Walter Dick-Peddie, Kansas City, Mo., two grandchildren, John Walter, Jr., Kansas City, and Mrs. Wm. Edward Leimert, recently married and now moving to Augsburg, Germany; two brothers, Philip Barrick and Sherman Barrick, Emmetsburg; two sisters, Mrs. Chas. Henderson, Plover, Iowa; Mrs. Clarence Peden, Jewell, Iowa.
