Services To Be Held Friday For Roscoe Jones

Roscoe Merle Jones, 66, of rural Reinbeck, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, at Covenant Medical Center-Kimball, in Waterloo.

Services will be held Friday, January 11, at 1:30 p.m. in the United Church of Christ in Reinbeck, with the Rev. Allan J. Mittler officiating. Friends may call at the Dike Funeral Chapel, Dike, on Wednesday from 7-9 p.m., on Thursday from 9-9, on Friday from 9-10:30 a.m., and at the church one hour prior to services.

Burial will be in the Reinbeck Cemetery, Reinbeck, with military graveside rites, by the Reinbeck American Legion.

Roscoe, the son of Tracy and Ethel Thompson Jones, was born on October 29, 1924, on a farm near Morrison. He attended Washington Township Country School until the eighth grade, and then went on to graduate from Reinbeck High in 1943. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps in December of 1943, and was discharged in April of 1946.

On August 25, 1946, he was united in marriage to Florence Vogt, at the United Church of Christ in Reinbeck. He was actively engaged in farming in the Dike area.

He was baptized, and a member of the United Church of Christ in Reinbeck. Roscoe was a member of the Reinbeck American Legion, Dike Lions, and a former director of the Farms Co-op in Dike, and ASC Committee member.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Hazel Frikken, and two brothers, Harold, and Delbert.

He is survived by his wife, Florence; one son, Jerry, of Dike; one daughter, Nancy Sharp, of Grundy Center; one brother, Ralph of Reinbeck; and four grandchildren, Shane and Travis Sharp, and Jamie and Holly Jones.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Dike Funeral Chapel, in Dike, will be in charge of the professional arrangements.
