Heiko G. Neessen Passed Away Wed., Funeral Saturday
Funeral services for Heiko G. Neessen were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Second Christian Reformed Church. The Rev. John H. Elenbaas was officiating clergyman.
Two duet numbers were given by Thomas Claassen and Dick Claassen. Mrs. Clarence Beecroft was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. Will W. Ross and Mrs. Jack Deters.
Pall bearers were Gary Miller, Gary Neessen, Craig Neessen, Dick Jansen, James Probst, and Roger Koopman. Interment was made in the Reformed Church cemetery.
Heiko George Neessen passed away Wednesday afternoon, October 16, 1968, at the Schoitz Memorial Hospital in Waterloo due to a heart attack. He had been hospitalized since August 14th. He reached the age of 73 years, 6 months and 26 days.
He was born on a farm in Colfax Township, east of Wellsburg on March 20, 1895, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George H. Neessen (nee Gertie Peters). He received his education in the Wellsburg Grade School. He also attended Ellsworth College for 1 year. In July of 1914, he was united in marriage to Miss Norma Johnson. Following their marriage they lived on a farm near Conrad. They later moved to a farm east of Wellsburg. In 1943 they retired from the farm and moved to Wellsburg.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, a brother, Claus, an infant daughter, and a daughter, Carol in 1939.
Those who survive him are his wife, Norma, 3 daughters and 2 sons: (LaVerne) Mrs. Dale Johnson of Waterloo; Lawrence Neessen of Waterloo; Donald Neessen of Waterloo; (Helen) Mrs. Neil McCaffery of Cedar Falls; (Myrna) Mrs. Marvin Hicks of South Bend, Indiana; 2 sisters: (Dena) Mrs. R. W. Ross of Wellsburg; (Alice) Mrs. Albert Nederhoff of Wellsburg; 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
