Well Known Lincoln Township Woman Dies After Four Months' Illness

Requiem high mass was read Tuesday forenoon for Mrs. Peter Knudson, formerly of Lincoln township, who died Sunday at the home of her son, James, in Cedar Falls. Mrs. Knudson was seventy seven years of age. She had been ill since March. Burial was Tuesday in Sacred Heart cemetery, Grundy Center.

Obituary

Mary Jane Cox, 77 years old at her death last Sunday, was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cox. She was born in 1856 at Forreston, Ill. When quite a young girl she moved with her parents to Grundy county.

In 1880 she was married to Peter Knudson. They then settled in Lincoln township, where she spent all her life with the exception of the last eleven years, during which she lived with her son James in Cedar Falls.

Her marriage was blessed with four children, Frank, who died in infancy, Charles, James and one daughter, Julia, now Mrs. J. J. Smith, who remain to mourn the loss of a very dear mother. Her husband, Peter Knudson passed away 12 years ago.

Mrs. Knudson was a faithful member of the Catholic Church. During her last illness, since March of this year, she was frequently comforted by the administration of the Sacraments of the church. To her children she was a loving mother, to her neighbors and to all whom she knew, she was a true friend. She passed away at her home in Lincoln township, July 2d at 12:40 p.m. She is survived by her son James at home and her daughter, Mrs. J. J. Smith of Alta Vista, Iowa.

The deeply touching funeral rites of her church began at 9:30 a.m. July 4th at the Sacred Heart church, Grundy Center, Iowa. Requiem High Mass was followed by the Last Solemn Absolution and an impressive sermon by the pastor, the Rev. Alfred Schmeetz. She was buried at the side of her husband in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

We wish to thank our relatives, friends and neighbors for their many kind acts of sympathy, also for the lovely flowers, in our present bereavement.
