Died.
WARDLE.--Died, at his home in Palermo township, Grundy County, on Friday, Feb. 13, 1885, Mr. John Wardle, aged 47 years.

Deceased was born in the city of New York in March, 1838, where his youth was passed. He subsequently married and came west to Ill., where he resided until 1864 when he came to Iowa and to Grundy county with his family and settled on the farm where he resided at the time of his death. During all the years of his life in this community his record was one of upright living. He was beloved and respected in all the relations of friend and neighbor, and it can be well said of him that he had one of the best of earthly treasures-a good name. He was a faithful member of the Methodist church, a living example of the power of christianity over men's lives.

Deceased leaves a wife and seven children of his immediate family to mourn his death, and to miss a husband and father's counsels and protecting care. His sickness was short, his death sudden, but the summons found him ready to meet the change.

--Grundy County Republican (Grundy Center, Iowa), 25 February 1885
