ROBERT A. ARTHUR DIES

Grundy County Farmer Passed Away at Presbyterian Hospital.

Hudson, July 17. (Special).—Death came yesterday afternoon at 3:50 to Robert E. Arthur, who resides in Grundy county, four miles from Hudson. Deceased had not been well for several months, being afflicted with stomach trouble. On the advice of his physician, he underwent an operation two weeks ago in the Presbyterian hospital in Waterloo, at which time a cancerous condition was discovered and it was found that his death was imminent. He has been in a critical condition for the past two weeks and his death, which occurred yesterday, was not unexpected.

Deceased was born in Renshawshire, Scotland, March 2, 1830, being in his seventieth year at his death. He came to this country with his parents when a child of three and to Iowa in 1866, settling first in Marshall county. For the past sixteen years, he had lived on a farm near Hudson and during his residence here he made many friends, all of whom sympathize deeply with the relatives in their bereavement. He was married March 15, 1864, to Lucile J. Gibson and she and their seven children survive, the children being: Mrs. Henry Watters, Cedar Falls; Carrie, at home; Charles, Coeur d' Alene, Idaho; John, Ida and Emma at home; Mrs. Hesicher, near Hudson.

The funeral will be held on Sunday at 11 o'clock from the home, the services being in charge of Rev. W. P. Thompson of the Baptist church.
