Services For Tena Meester

Tena Meester, 81, of Dike, passed away Saturday, December 29, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 2, at 10:30 a.m., at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church in rural Holland, with Pastor John C. Frey officiating.

Pallbearers were Alex Meester, Chad Meester, Eric Meester, Troy Meester, Leon Aalderks, Mark Aalderks, Myron Aalders, and Joel Krusemark.

Interment was in the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church Cemetery, in rural Holland.

Tena, the daughter of Ubbie and Nellie Janssen DeVries, was born on September 12, 1909, in Melrose Township. She grew up and attended rural schools in Grundy County.

She was united in marriage to Henry K. Meester, on February 25, 1932, at the parsonage of the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church in rural Holland. Tena and Henry farmed near Dike in Grundy County for many years, raising four children.

She was a active member of the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church, and active in the Reformed Church Women's Missionary Guild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry K., three brothers, Elky DeVries, Arthur DeVries, and Willard DeVries; three sisters, Kattie Seehusen, Minnie Huisman, and Annie Meester.

Tena is survived by her three sons, Al, of Reinbeck, Marvin, of Dike, and Gaylen, at home; one daughter, Rosie (Mrs. Marvin) Aalderks, of Parkersburg; one sister, Alvina Walterman, of Parkersbug; ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Dike Funeral Chapel, in Dike, was in charge of arrangements.
