Lawrence Ackerman Dies at Iowa Falls

Funeral services were held this Wednesday afternoon for Lawrence Ackerman, 50, of Iowa Falls at the Anderson Funeral Home there at 1:00 o'clock and at 1:30 pm at the Christian Reformed Church. Interment was at the cemetery in Iowa Falls.

Mr. Ackerman died about noon Sunday at the St. Joseph Mercy hospital in Mason City. He had gone to the hospital on Friday and had submitted to surgery there on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased was born on July 6, 1918 at Nihill, Montana and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ackerman. At an early age he and his family moved to a farm near Wellsburg. He attended the Wellsburg Public School and was graduated from high school here.

He was united in marriage to Vera Geerdes on December 5, 1942. They moved to Iowa Falls in 1951 where Mr. Ackerman had a locker plant and at the time of his death he had a similar business in Geneva.

He is survived by his wife, also five children: Sandra, Mrs. Jim Baldwin of Cedar Falls, Anthony, Bruce, Susan, and Cindy at home. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Nettie Meyer of Wellsburg; two sisters, (Nellie) Mrs. William Deters of Eldora; (Florence) Mrs. George Eckhoff of Wellsburg; also two step sisters and two step brothers Harm C. Meyer of Wellsburg; (Clara) Mrs. Milton De Neui of Shell Rock; Odie W. Meyer of Marshalltown; (Gertrude) Mrs. John Hoodjer of Wellsburg and a host of other relatives and friends.

Preceding him were his father, his step father, W. H. Meyer, one brother, George, who passed away in 1928, one brother, Louis, who died in 1966, and two sisters in infancy.
