Last Rites Held For Grundy Center Man

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Engelkes Funeral Home in Grundy Center and at 1:30 p.m. at the Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center for Raymond Van Deest, Grundy Center farmer who died Saturday morning at the University hospital in Iowa City from a blood clot on his brain. He was taken to the hospital Friday morning.

He was born in Colfax township on June 4, 1919 and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Van Deest. On March 23, 1943 he was married to Ella Tack at Grundy Center. The couple began farming on the home farm where they resided up to the time of Mr. Van Deest’s death.

Survivors are his wife and one son Roger; his parents; five brothers and three sisters; Adolph, William, Mrs. Henry J. Meester and Mrs. Edward Flater all of Grundy Center; John, Benjamin, Herbert, all of Holland; Mrs. Henry Graves of Dike.
