Former Resident, Ben Upton, Dies

Word has been received of the death of a former Grundy county, Conrad area man, Ben Upton, 73, of Yuma, AZ.

He was born June 6, 1909, son of Howard and Gertrude Benham Upton. He grew up in the Conrad community and graduated from the Conrad High School in 1927.

He married Ada Hawn of Grundy Center, he was an engineer and lived in Des Moines before being transferred to California. After his retirement and due to ill health they recently moved to Yuma, AZ, where he lived at the time of his death. Burial was in Yuma, AZ on December 23rd.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, and three sisters, Ruth (Mrs. Blaine) Hawn, Minneapolis, MN; Helen (Mrs. Melvin) Collins, West Plains, MO; and Artis (Mrs. Milo) Wical, Cook, MN.
