Oldig Nederhoff Funeral Saturday

Oldig O. Nederhoff passed away at his home in Wellsburg around 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, December 17, following a lingering illness. He reached the age of 83 years, 2 months and 26 days.

Services were held Saturday at 1:00 in the Doyen Funeral Home followed by services in The First Christian Reformed church, Rev. Harold Hollander officiated. Burial was in the First Christian Reformed cemetery.

A men's quartet, Harvey Eiten, Alfred Eiten, Willis Bakker and Arnold Eiten sang "When Zion in Her Lowest State" and "Abide With Me." Miss Elizabeth Eekhoff was organist.

Flower attendants were Mrs. Will Janssen and Mrs. Donald Purvis.

Casket bearers were Larry Bosma, David Eekhoff, Rollin Primus, Stanley Nederhoff, Ronald Klaassen and Clifton Johnson.

He was born on a farm in Shiloh Township, Grundy County, southwest of Wellsburg on Sept. 21, 1886, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Oldig H. Nederhoff (nee Grietje Meester). He received his education in the rural school in the area. He was united in marriage to Miss Ada Dresselhuis on June 26, 1913 at the home place of his parents southwest of Wellsburg by the Rev. Hoefker. Following their marriage they lived on the home place of his parents, where they continued to live until they retired from the farm in December of 1953, at which time they moved to Wellsburg. They were privileged to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 26, 1963 with their family.

Mr. Nederhoff had been in ill health for many years having suffered a stroke on September 3, 1957 from which he never fully recovered.

He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church having made confession of his faith in Jesus Christ on Sept 26, 1913.

Those who preceded him in death were his parents, 2 children in infancy, 1 grand son and daughter, 4 brothers and 4 sisters.

Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Ada; 6 daughters and 3 sons, (Grace), Mrs. Fred Luppen of Wellsburg; Edward Nederhoff of Wellsburg; (Etta), Mrs. Julius Heikens of Ackley; (Ordie) Mrs. Harold Eekhoff of Wellsburg; (Frances), Mrs. Claus G. Primus of Steamboat Rock; (Inez) Mrs. Rodney Deters of Wellsburg; Carl H. Nederhoff of Wellsburg; Willis Nederhoff of Wellsburg; (Donna) Mrs. Alvin Blythe of Wellsburg; 28 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; 1 sister, Mrs. Antje Bunger of Wellsburg; and a host of other relatives and friends.
