ELDORA— Paul “Curley” Neymeyer, 77, formerly of Eldora, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Following cremation, memorial services will be held Saturday, Feb. 26, at Eldora United Methodist Church. Private family burial will take place at the Eldora City Cemetery at a later date. A public gathering will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at the Biersborn Funeral Home in Union, with family present from 6 until 8 p.m.

Paul was born June 10, 1927, in Fern, the son of Alburtus and Anna (Benton) Neymeyer. He was raised in Fern and received his education in Aplington. Curley enlisted with the U.S. Army and actively served his country during World War II in the European Theater campaign. Following his honorable discharge, he lived in Texas for a short time before moving to the Eldora and Gifford areas in 1957. Curley was married to Judy Davison on July 9, 1977, at the Eldora Methodist Church. He worked for the city of Eldora and the Hardin County Road Department before his retirement in 1987. During his free time Curley enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Eldora American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Judy of Eldora; two sons, Jerry Neymeyer of Eldora and Steve Neymeyer of Oshkosh, Wis.; two brothers, John and Mary Neymeyer of Fairbault, Minn., and Joe and Marge Neymeyer of Austinville; and sister-in-law Barb Neymeyer of Eldora.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Mitch; his sister, Ann Harms; and his brothers, Milton, Cal, Charles and Robert.
