Gov. Drake last week issued a pardon to Alexander Nelson, who was sent up from Grundy county several years ago for ten years for being implicated in the shooting of Mr. Neet, of Reinbeck. Nelson's term expired on the 12th of March, but at times he has been mentally unbalanced, and insane criminals are kept in confinement until some other disposition is ordered. The father of Nelson, residing in Wisconsin, was written to and he at once went to Des Moines, interviewed the governor and was given the papers of pardon and release, taking his son home with him.
