Fred Ables recently attended his father's 82nd birthday at Forreston, Ill. Out of 106 living relatives, 46 were present to make the day a memorable one for the old gentleman. The family was partly foreign birth, yet when it came to preserving the union the father sent three of his boys to the front to defend their adopted country. Fred was a member of the Co. C. 46 Ill. Inf. This company was composed of Germans, except one and he was an Irishman.
