I don't know the size of the plaque. I just have an old black and white photo and it isn't really all on the picture. There is also a drawing of a coal mine on it. On Labor day I went looking for it. I read a story about the rescue that was in the Des Moines Register Feb. 9, 1936. It seems the plaque is south of Squirrel hollow Park and 1000 feet from the old mine entrance. I didn't locate it, but did find a similar marker at the Henderson Scout Park south of Jefferson on the Raccoon River.
