Obituary from Grand Junction, Greene Co., IA newspaper: Dies January 7, 1900

"Grandpa Harrison is Gone. He died in Grand Junction at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. B. Crow, of uremic coma. Wm. H. Harrison; aged 82 years, 11 months, and 7 days. Grandpa Harrison was born in Fairfield county, Ohio, on January 30, 1817. His parents died when he was yet a small boy, and he made his home with an uncle until his marriage to Miss Rebecca Keys, on November 18th, 1838. To this union were born nine children - Benjamin, Letitia, Henry, Mary, John, George, Ellen and William, of which six are left, with the aged wife, to mourn his departure to a brighter and better home in the sky. In the fall of 1850 he moved to Jones county, Iowa, and in 1857 he was united with the U. B. church at Rome and continued a member of that church until 1869 when he moved on a farm near Jefferson, Greene county, Iowa. There being no church of that faith there he joined the Methodist church where his membership has remained up to his death. In 1885 he made his final move to Grand Junction where he has since resided.

Grandpa was a faithful husband, a kind and loving father, a most agreeable neighbor and good citizen, always thoughtful for the comfort of others and hoping for the best; while, in his last hours he lived his life over again.

It seemed to those who watched that he could not praise his Savior more; at times offering thanks for the blessings he had received, and then being absorbed in prayer. "Blessed are they who die in the Lord." The funeral services were held from the Methodist church at 11 a.m. on Tuesday conducted by Rev. E. Hill, assisted by Rev. J. M. Krafft. The remains were laid to rest in the Grand Junction cemetary." [ NOTE:The above item omitted the name of one of their children: Tallman.]
