Wayne R. Hodges Sept 6, 1929-Mar 25, 2013

Wayne Rohr Hodges, 83, son of Roy Ruth (Rohr) Hodges, was born September 6, 1929 in Vandalia, Missouri. He passed away Monday, March 25, 2013 at the Panora Nursing Rehab Center.

Following the drought conditions in Missouri, his parents moved to Iowa sometime in the 1930s. Wayne graduated from Panora High School in 1948. He served two years in the Army during the Korean War. On June 18, 1957, he married Fern L. Alborn at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. To this union two sons were born, Rick and Terry. Wayne worked as a farmer and also worked at the Electrolux Plant in Jefferson, Iowa for 28 years, retiring from there in 1994.

Wayne collected toy John Deere tractors and enjoyed going to Flea Markets and Rodeo’s.

He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 56 years, Fern; sons, Rick of Panora and Terry of Yale; two grandchildren, Nathan (Courtney) Hodges and Travis Hodges. Several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, LaVaun Hodges and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Sue, and brothers JR and John.

Private family services will be Thursday, March 28, 2013. Burial will be in the Yale Cemetery, Yale, Iowa. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Twigg Funeral Home, Panora. ~ The Des Moines Register, Wed 27 Mar 2013.
