Bertha Belle Piatt was born February 13, 1879 at Tipton, Ia. She was the daughter of Elizabeth Barclay and Melvin W. Ridenour. Mrs. Piatt passed away May 22 at the Rest Haven Nursing Home in Independence, MO, at the age of 89 years, 3 months, and 9 days. She was united in marriage February 23, 1897 to Harry Victor Piatt at Paton, Iowa. They celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary this year. She was a member of the RLDS Church and baptized in 1908. A daughter, Gladys Fox preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Harry V. Piatt, who is being cared for at the Rest Haven Home, one daughter, Mrs. Velma Bruns of Independence, MO, two sons, Harry E. Piatt, Route 4, Butler, and Allen Piatt of Independence, 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Waddell of Paton, Iowa, and Mrs. Gayle Ward of Montevideo, Minn. Funeral services were held May 24, at 2 o'clock at the Culver-Underwood chapel with Elder Leroy Backham officiating. Burial was made in Oak Hill cemetery.
