Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 31, from the Slininger-Rossow Chapel in Jefferson for Margaret L. Bane, 58, longtime Greene county resident.

The Rev. Robert G. Beard, pastor of First Baptist Church of Jefferson, officiated. Helen Wilson was organist. Honorary casket bearers were Jim Selene, Carroll Bryan, David Sayre and Gerald Winchel.

Casket bearers were Leo Davis, Barry Burgin, Gene Sukovaty, Dean Adkins, Ronald Wright and Merritt Duncan. Interment was in Jefferson Cemetery.

Margaret Louise Bane, daughter of Mahlon and Natalie Murry Flack, was born August. 16, 1927, on a farm southeast of Churdan in Greene county. She attended rural schools and the family moved to Paton when Margaret was in the sixth grade where she attended school and graduated in 1944 from the Paton High School. After her schooling, Margaret worked in Jefferson at Aldera's Variety Store and held several other jobs in the community.

Margaret was united in marriage with Warner Bane on April 20, 1946, in Hiawatha, KS. The couple farmed northeast of Jefferson until 1953 when they moved to a farm northeast of Scranton. Margaret worked at the Jefferson Manor in 1968.

In 1977 Warner and Margaret moved into Jefferson where Margaret continued her work at the Greene County Medical Center. She held several positions at the medical center, the most recent being the manager of patient accounts.

Mrs. Bane was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Jefferson.

Margaret died December 28 in Jefferson. She was preceded in death by her father in 1980.

Her survivors include her husband Warner; their children, Craig and his wife Judy of Des Moines and Sandra [Mrs. John] Kilgore of Ankeny; two grandchildren, Andy and Adam Kilgore; her mother, Natalie Flack of Jefferson; a brother, Marvin Flack of Scranton; and nieces and nephews.
