Kathryn [Katie] Elizabeth (Cox) McClurg was born April 10, 1870 in Morgan County, Illinois and died June 13, 1944 Scranton, Greene County, Iowa. She is buried in the Scranton Cemetery. She was married to John Arthur McClurg. The daughter of Nathaniel Franklin & Hester (Elmore) Cox.

Rites at Scranton for Mrs. McClurg, 74

Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon, June 15, at 2:30 for Mrs. Arthur McClurg, 74, who died at 1 a.m. Tuesday, June 13 at her home in Scranton. The services were conducted at the Hurffman funeral home in Scranton.

Mrs. McClurg had lived in Scranton, since here marriage nearly 51 years ago. She suffered a stroke last November and never fully recovered. Death followed a second stroke a week ago.

She was born April 10, 1870, in Illinois, a daughter of Esther & Nathaniel Cox, and her maiden name was Catherine Elizabeth Cox. As a young girl, she came with her parents to a farm south of Lake City. She and Mr. McClurg were married July 4, 1893.

Survivors include here husband; 3 children, Mrs. Lyle Shay of Jewell, Clyde McClurg of Wilmington, California, and Mrs. Elmer Onnen of Rockwell City, and 10 grandchildren, of whom one, Beverly Anderson, has made her home with her grandparents for the last eight years since the death of her mother, Mrs. Algy Anderson, also a daughter of the McClurgs.
