FOREST DRESHER OBITUARY

Forest Elmer Dresher, the son of Martin and Quintilla Dresher, was born in Locust Grove township, Mar. 6, 1879, and passed away at his home in Riverton, Nov. 25, 1950, at the age of 71 years, 8 months and 19 days.

On February 14, 1900, he united in marriage to Murtie Martha Utterback, and to this union eight children were born, Alfred Roy, who died in infancy, Meryl Dresher of Malvern, Vera Bennett of Thurman, Gladys Tillman of Tabor, Alice Cooper of Riverton, Martha Israel of Percival and Forest E. Jr. of Iowa City. His wife passed away Sept. 22, 1926. Other survivors are 17 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, on half-sister, Mrs. Helen Tobin of Santa Monica, Calif., and his housekeeper, Mrs. Margaret White, who helped care for him during his lingering illness. Another half-sister, Mrs. Doris Nagel, precede him in death also.

Forest, or “Frosty”, as he is known to his friends, spent the greater part of his life farming in and near Riverton. For the past year he had been ill with cancer and had been bedfast for the last four months. Knowing there was no cure, he bore his suffering quietly and patiently. On Oct. 19th he confessed his faith in Christ and joined the Methodist church.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church, Monday, Nov. 27, conducted by Rev. Duane Manning. Burial was made in the Mt. Zion cemetery.
