JOE VOGES DIES

Joseph John Voges, the son of George and Antoinette Voges, was born in Ferdinand, Indiana, March 17, 1874, and passed away Sunday, Nov. 26 at St. Joseph’s hospital in Omaha at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 9 days. He had been a victim of leukemia for the past six years.

He was united in marriage to Theresia Lehmkuhle of Watson, Missouri in 1898. To this union seven children were born, six of whom survive him. He was engaged in farming throughout his active life but had been retired several years. He moved from Watson to Nebraska City in 1925. He was a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic church.

He is survived by his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Zita Lyle of Hamburg, Mrs. Mary Ertl of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Mrs. Genevieve Meegan of Washinton, D.C., Mrs. Veronica Cary of Denver, Mrs. Juliana McCauley of Afton, Iowa; one son, Omer of Omaha; a brother, Henry of Ferdinand, Ind.; nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and many friends. A son, Julius, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 28, at 10 a.m. at St. Benedict’s Catholic church in Nebraska City with Rev. Father John Kraus officiating. Burial was in St. Benedict’s cemetery. The Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Monday at the Fassbender Funeral Home.
