Horton Beam, son of Jacob and Serena Beam, was born at the farm home, south of Riverton, July 22, 1873 and passed away February 14, 1950, at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 22 days.

He was united in marriage to Anna Swatman, March 1, 1899 at Riverton. To them three daughters were born: Leita, Irena and Vera.

He engaged in farming in Iowa and Nebraska until 1920, when the family moved to Malvern where he was the manager of the Internal Harvester Company for the next twelve years. He was active in civil affairs and in 1924 united with the Methodist church at Malvern. He was an active and sincere christian and took a very active part in the affairs of the church. He retired thirteen years ago and moved to Riverton, where he has since resided.

He is survived by his wife Anna, his three daughters: Mrs. Leita Storm of Malvern; Mrs. Irena Stouder of New Orleans and Mrs. Vera Stouder of Omaha; two sisters, Elizabeth Smith of Plattsmouth, Nebraska; Ella Barker of Altamont, Missouri, two brothers, Fred of Omaha, and Wilbur of Riverton, ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, February 16, at 2 p.m. at the Shull Funeral Home in Riverton, conducted by Rev. J.H. Freedline. Burial was made in the Riverton cemetery.
