Florence P. Goracke, age 91, of Hamburg, IA (a current resident of Morton House in Nebr. City) passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 atSt. Mary’s Hospital in Nebraska City, NE.

Florence was born on July 31, 1921 in Atchison County, MO; the daughter of Ira T. and Bessie L. (Choate) Dovel. She was united in marriage to Martin F. Goracke on August 1, 1939 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hamburg, IA.

Florence was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hamburg and the Altar Society. She also belonged to the Good Neighbor Club.

She is survived by her husband Martin Goracke of Hamburg, IA (now residing at Morton House in Nebraska City); children Lawrence M. Goracke and wife Charlene Kay of Butler, OH and Lois Ann Goracke and husband Rick Goode of Pueblo, CO; four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; siblings: Murilla Giittinger and husband Marvin of Nebr. City, NE; Murl Dovel and wife Shirley of Hamburg, IA; Helen Beccard of Nebr. City, NE; sisters-in-law: Linda Dovel of Red Oak, IA and Irene Krontz of Adams, NE and brothers-in-law: Wayne Rice of Atlantic, IA and Leonard Goracke of Tecumseh, NE; other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her stillborn son Frank Goracke; a sister Marie Rice; brothers Thomas Dovel and John Dovel; two grandsons and brothers-in-law Robert, Paul and Clemence Goracke.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hamburg, IA with Fr. Vernon Smith officiating. Burial will follow the services at Mt. Zion Cemetery at rural Hamburg, IA.

A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday (6/6) evening at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg, IA, followed by the family greeting friends.

Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hamburg, IA.
