Coretta Jo Whitten
April 18, 1931 - May 5, 2015

Coretta was born on April 18, 1931 in Hamburg, IA; the daughter of Kimber Raymond and Rosa Maye (Cowles) Smith. Her family later moved to Nebraska City where she graduated form the Nebraska City High School with the Class of 1949.

She was united in marriage to Evart M. Whitten on April 7, 1951 in Council Bluffs, IA. She was a devoted wife and mother. In addition to raising the children and tending to the needs of the family, she also worked at several jobs over the years.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Thomas Ramage and wife Betty of Nebr. City; Janice Kittrell of Waller, TX; Deborah Weisberg and husband William of Maryville, TN; Carol Whitten of Nebr. City; Evert Whitten and wife Lisa of Nebr. City and Steven Whitten and wife Rhonda of Borden, IN; son-in-law Jim Peterson of Worland, WY; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; other family and friends.

Coretta was preceded in death by her parents; husband Evart Whitten on Sept. 27, 1998; daughter: Vicki Whitten-Dowse on June 17, 2009 and Diane Peterson on December 31, 2008 and here five siblings: Walter, Gerald, Carl, Dorothy and Lea.

Coretta J. Whitten entered eternal peace on May 5, 2015 at her home in Nebraska City surrounded by her loving family. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
