Herbert Stogdill, 88, Tabor

Funeral services for Doss Herbert Stogdill, 88, of Tabor were held April 14 at Crawford-Reeves-Marshall Funeral Home in Tabor. The Rev. Lauris Meek officiated with burial in Tabor Cemetery.

Mr. Stogdill passed away April 11, 1992. at University Hospital in Omaha following an extended illness.

He was born April 4, 1904, in Mark, IA. As a youth his family farmed northeast of Silver City, where Herbert attended Box Elder School. The family moved to Malvern, where he met Gertrude Perkins. They were married in 1925.

Herbert worked at Carter's Orchard, and was employed at Malvern Cold Storage for a number of years. During World War II he worked at Omaha Steel, building landing craft for the government. After that he farmed near Tabor until he retired.

He was preceded in death by his wife, an infant daughter, a son-in-law, four sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include his daughter Doris Rickabaugh of Tabor; a son, Gerald Stogdill and wife Lenora of Silver City, two sisters, Clo Hedlund of Malvern and Mae Bakiozier of Florida; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Pallbarers were Fred Techau, Kenneth Inman, Bill Rickabaugh, Bill Lay, Curt Kaufman and Ron Stogdill.
