Mrs. Oscar Crandal Dies.
Emma Belle, daughter of Samuel
K. and Mary E. Atkinson was born
near Sidney, Iowa, March 9, 1873,
and passed away at her home near
Payne, Iowa, January 15, 1933, aged
59 years, 10 months and 6 days. She
had spent most of her life in and
around Sidney.She was united in marriage to
Oscar E. Crandal, January 11, 1891,
at Farragut, Iowa, and to this union
eleven children were born, seven of
whom, with their father, are left to
mourn her departure. They are,
Mrs. Jennie Gordon, Mrs. Ora
Brown, Mrs. Meltha Bellew, Ray-
mond and Frank, all of this vicin-
ity; Charles R., and Mrs. Mary
Gladson, of Nampa, Idaho. Three
infants and Silas S. preceded her
in death, the latter at the age of
sixteen. She also leaves five grand-
children, two brothers, J.M. Atkin-
son, of Lethbridge, Canada, and R.
F. Atkinson, of Council Bluffs, Ia.,
and one sister, Mrs. R.H. Carse of
Oakland, Ia., besides a host of other
relatives and friends who will great-
ly miss her.She was converted in early life,
uniting with the Christian church,
and had a strong faith in her Sa-
vior through life. Her religious
views were very liberal and she was
ready at all times to work for Christ
and salvation. The last years of
her life were of deepened faith and
trust in God. She was a gentle,
devoted wife and mother, no sacri-
fice being too great for her to make
for her family. She was a neigh-
bor whose friends were numbered
by those who knew her.Funeral services were held at the
west Mt. Olive church Tuesday af-
ternoon, January 17, at 1:00 p.m.,
conducted by Mrs. Nellie A. Will-
iams. The remains were laid to
rest in the Singleton cemetery, east
of Sidney, beside her children.
