Services Held for John Bachler, Thurman Resident, Age 83
John Alexander, son of John and Mary Bachler, was born in Cass county NE, Sept. 15, 1876, and
passed away at Tabor Feb. 23, 1960, at the Good Samaritan Rest Home.

As a small boy he, with his parents, came to Fremont county, where he since made his home. He
was a farmer all his life, being especially well known for his skill in handling horses and mules,
used on the farm in his day. In 1899 he was married to Laura Dyke. To this union four children were
born: W. A. Bachler, now of Glenwood; R. A. of El Reno OK; Philip of Tabor and Vera, now Mrs.
Delbert Van Arsdel, of Council Bluffs.

Mr. Bacheler led an arduous life having more than the usual lots of misfortunes and difficulties. In
1946 his wife passed away, and he has lived alone since then until last October.

He is survived by: his four children; a sister, Nellie Herker, Thurman; brother, Isaac, Winlock WA;
15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; nephews, nieces and many friends.

Services were held Thursday Feb. 23 at the Reeves-Dow Funeral Home in Tabor, conducted by
Rev. Wm. Lee, with interment in Tabor cemetery. Casket bearers were Glen Bolton, Dick Van
Arsdel, Larry Ballinger, Donald Baggs, Jerry Johnson and Max Bachler. Flowers were in care of
Mesdames Phyllis Patrick, Lea Lawson, Jean Baggs, Laura Birchall, Beverly Ballinger, Betsy
Johnson, Shirley Bolton and Miss Twila Van Arsdel. Music was by Mrs. Dorothy Vanatta and Mrs.
Claire Douglas, accompanied by Mrs. O. T. Belle Elliott. The memory book was in charge of Mrs.
Loeta Bachler.
