CROMWELL, IMON, LAMB, SIPPY, KIDD, MILES, JONES

Davis Cromwell

Davis Cromwell, 77, brother of Joe Cromwell of Pine Bluff, and for more than 30 years connected with various race tracks throughout the nation died at 9:30 o'clock last night at the home of Mrs. W.P. Imon, 1700 Beech, where he had been ill for the past several months.

Mr. Cromwell was born on Sept. 30, 1864, in Sidney, Ia., and was reared in the middle west. When the old Jones Park race track was in operation in Pine Bluff, Mr. Cromwell spent three years here, largely engaged in training and handling horses owned by his brother. After the park closed he was connected with the Arlington and Budweiser bars here, but in 1917 he returned to the race tracks. With another brother, the late Tom Cromwell, he traveled the western circuits and their success with a horse named Kenova was a nationally discussed racing event for some time.

In recent years he worked as a stable custodian and was night watchman for a stable at Hialeah Park, Fla., when he became ill in January.
Mr. Cromwell was a member of the Pine Bluff Masonic Lodge, and Benevolent and Protective order of Elks.

In addition to his brother here, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. F.J. Lamb of Sidney, Ia.; a nephew, Sergeant Joe Cromwell of Pine Bluff; and eleven other nieces and nephews as follow: Tommie Cromwell, Charlie Cromwell, Harry Cromwell, and Mrs. Grace Sippy, of Monroe, Wash.; Miss Catherine Kidd, Mrs. Eula Tennent of Yakima, Wash.; Mrs. Lucille Miles of St. Louis; Mrs. Lavern Jones of Creighton, Neb.; Mrs. Beulah Payne, Miss Nellie Lamb and Will Lamb, all of Sidney.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10 o'clock fromt eh chapel of the Ralph Robinson and Son Mortuary in charge of Dr. Francis D. Daley, rector of the Trinity Episcopal church. Burial will be on the family lot in Bellwood cemetery in charge of Ralph Robinson and Son Mortuary. Pallbearers will be: G.A. Bahlau, Robert Cox, V.D. Webb, CLaude CLegg, Jim McLellan, G.B. Wheat, J. P. Crawford, R.E. Sullivant, Peck McMillen, J.E. Clifford, S.C. Williamson and Thurman Louthan.
The family request that no flowers be sent for the funeral.
