In the name of God, Amen! I, Samuel W. Ripley of the County of Fremont in the State of Iowa, of the age of fifty-one years and being of sound mind and memory, do make, publish and declare this my last will and testament in manner following, that is to say:
I give and bequeath to my wife Eunice A. Ripley all my real estate of every name and nature whatsoever to have and to hold the same in fee simple in her own, sole and absolute right forever together with all the hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining.
And lastly I give and bequeath all my personal estate, goods and chattel of what nature or kind soever to my said wife, Eunice A. Ripley, whom I hereby appoint sole executrix of this my last will and testament and hereby request that she be not required to give bond upon entering upon the duties of said executrix.
I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 30th day of January A.D. 1858.

The above instrument consisting of one-half sheet was at the date thereof signed, sealed, published and declared by the said Samuel W. Ripley and for his last will and testament in the presence of us, who at his request and in his presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.
