Last Will and Testament of John Wilson
I, John Wilson, of the Township of Scott, County of Fremont and State of Iowa, being aware of the uncertainty of life, far advanced in years and in feeble health, but of sound mind and memory do make and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner following, to wit:
First…After the payment of all my just debts, both public and private, including medical attendance in my last illness and funeral expenses to be paid out of any personal assets, and if there should be anything remaining of my personalty, I do hereby will, give and bequeath all my personal property absolutely to my beloved wife, Eliza Wilson, together full power control and management of all my real estate that I may be seized of in fee simple, at the time of my death full and complete control of the rents and profits for her own use and that of my son, John L. Wilson, during her natural life time. To dispose of at her will for the above purpose, all the rents and profits arising from any lands during her natural life time. To dispose of at her will for the above purpose all the rents and profits arising from any lands during her natural life. And I further direct and authorize my beloved wife Eliza Wilson to have the full and exclusive control over all the property interest of my son John L. Wilson, during her life time. And I further will and direct after the death of my beloved wife, Eliza Wilson, that my son, John L. Wilson, have. I hereby will and bequeath to him, the North East fourth of the South East quarter of Section Twenty two and the North West fourth of the South West quarter of Section Twenty three to have and enjoy all the rents and profits thereof and occupy the same during his natural life. And after his death to be equally divided between my recognized Heirs. Subject to same terms and conditions as proscribed in each of their several legacies as hereafter shall be proscribed, except Wm. Wilson who shall not share in the division of the same, and I further will and bequeath to my son, Isah (sic) Wilson the East half of the South West quarter of Section Twenty two. And I further will and bequeath to my son Thomas E. Wilson the West half of South East quarter of Section Twenty two. And I further will and bequeath to my son Francis M. Wilson, the South East fourth of the North East fourth of Sections Twenty two, South West fourth of the North West quarter of Section Twenty three. And I further will and bequeath to my three daughters during their natural life time and at their deaths to their children, if they have any surviving them, and if not to their brothers and sisters in like manner as prescribed in these several gifts herein defined. First to Mary E. Long, the North half of North West quarter of Section Twenty three. Next I will and bequeath to my daughter L. J. Baggs, the South half of South West fourth of Section Fourteen and I further will and bequeath to daughter Sarah J. Weston, the North half of the South West fourth of Section Fourteen. The South half and North West fourth of the South East fourth of the North West quarter, Section Fourteen. The last described Thirty acres I will and bequeath to my son, Wm. Wilson, that is only and entire interest that he is to inherit in my estate. The foregoing described lands are situated in Township Seventy, North of Range Forty three West. And I do hereby appoint my beloved wife, Eliza Wilson, Executor of my last Will and Testament to serve without bond. Provided she accepts of the terms and conditions of the provisions of this my last Will and Testament.
In witness whereof, I, John Wilson to this my last Will and Testament have hereunto set my hand and seal this the Third day of August A.S. 1888.
