FREMONT COUNTY WILLS

Court of Probate, Fremont County Iowa 1854

Jan. 2nd 1854...I, Samuel Bartholomew of the County of Fremont and State of Iowa, being of sound
mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transitory life do therefore make
ordain publish and declare this to be my last will and testament, that is to say:

First...After all my lawful debts and funeral expences are paid and discharged, the residue of my
estate real and personal, I give, bequeath and dispose of as follows to wit:

To my beloved wife, Catharine, all my land and personal property to do with as she thinks proper, to
sell the real estate and dispose of it in anyway she wishes, and to ____ the personal property for
her own use and benefit and do with the same as she thinks best.

To my beloved children I will nothing. Likewise make constitute and appoint my said wife, Catherine
Bartholomew to be executor of this my last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by
me made

In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal this sixth day of
October in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty three....Samuel X Bartholomew

The above written instrument was subscribed by Samuel Bartholomew in our presence and
acknowledged by him to each of us; and he at the same time published and declared the above
instrument so subscribed to be his last will and testament and we at the testators request and in
his presence have signed our names as witnesses thereto.
