BATAVIA. John E. FORNEY, 83, lifetime Batavia resident, died Wed. at Sheffield (Franklin Co., Iowa). Burial at Batavia. Retired brick mason. Member Christian Church.

Born at Batavia (Nov. 2) 1874, son of Frank F. and Mary Elizabeth FORNEY; married Sara EVANS (IVINS) 1898. Survived by children: Mrs. J. W. DUNNETT, Sheffield; Mrs. J. R. PHILLIPS, Marshalltown; Kenneth FORNEY, Ellston; Woodrow FORNEY, Warren, Ore.; and Kermit FORNEY, Batavia. His wife and three sons preceded him in death. 18 grandchildren and 14 grgrchn also survive.
