Hampton Man Succumbs After Long Illness
Funeral Services for James H. Richards of Hampton were held Monday afternoon, at the Methodist Church in Geneva. Rev. Thomas A. Sears conducted the last rites and interment was made in the Geneva cemetery. The Greenfield funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Richards passed away last Friday after a lengthy illness.
James Howard Richards was born May 7, 1879, in Reeve township, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Richards. He made his home in Franklin County his entire life, engaging in farming. He was married to Norma Nobles of Geneva in 1904, Mr. and Mrs. Richards moved to Hampton about two years ago.
Mr. Richards is survived by three children, Mrs. Grant Hoffman, of Hampton, James W. Richards of Washington, D.C. and Lt. Col. Robert H. Richards of Alameda, California, and four grandchildren. Also surviving are five sisters, Mrs. Alice Sheppard, of Iowa Falls, Mrs. Edith Thorpe of Minneapolis, Mrs. Lillian Rick of Plankinton, South Dakota, Mrs. Ruth Luke, of Long Beach, California, and Mrs. Gertrude Hobbie of Cedar Rapids.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother and a sister.
