Dows - Joel W. Rice, 59, died at his home in Buckeye Friday, May 20. He was born in Morgan township, Franklin County on March 27, 1873; was married to Luella Dunbar in 1894 and they lived on a farm in Kossuth County for 30 years. They then moved onto a farm near Dows, later moving into town until the last six years during which time they made their home in Buckeye, running a meat market and restaurant.

For two years, Mr. Rice has been in failing health and suffered greatly. He leaves his widow; one son, George of Webster City; two sisters: Mrs. A. C. Olson of Alabama and Mrs. George Parkinson of Dows.

The funeral was held in Dows in the M .E. Church Sunday afternoon.
