Dows - Mrs. Layton Butcher, 89, died Monday evening after a long illness.

Born Phoebe Ann Stubbins in England, she was married to Layton Butcher in 1872.

They came to this country and settled in Illinois in 1873. Ten years later they came to a farm near Dows and lived there and in Dows ever since. Mr. Butcher died in 1927.

The funeral was Wednesday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church, the Rev. R. A. Brough in charge. She died at the old home farm, cared for by her only living child, Mrs. Harry Stager.
