Funeral services were held for Robert Milo Beach of Dows, on Wednesday, May 31, 2000 at the First Lutheran Church in Dows. Rev. James Turner officiated the service. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery, rural Dows. Military rites were conducted at the cemetery by Post #523 of the Dows American Legion. Elledge Funeral Home of Dows was in charge of arrangements.

Robert Milo Beach was born March 1, 1922 in Dows, the son of Milo and Dora Forrest Beach. He attended school in Dows, graduating in 1940. He entered the Army Air Force on October 20, 1942 at Camp Dodge and was honorably discharged February 23, 1946 at the Separation Center, Jefferson Barracks Missouri. He was Sergeant with the 462nd Army Air Force.

On May 2, 1947, he and Olga Marie Foss were united in marriage at Deer Creek Valley Lutheran Church near Northwood. From 1951-1952 he operated the DX Service Station in Dows and later farmed near Dows until his retirement.

Robert was past commander of the American Legion Post #523 in Dows and a member of First Lutheran Church, Dows.

Survivors include his wife, Olga of Dows; three daughters: Patricia Larpenter and husband Mike of Des Moines; Janet Schroeder and husband Mike of Dows; Peggy Miller and husband Mike of Independence, Missouri; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and one sister, Bonnie Helfritz of Austin, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters: Maude, Erma, Dorothy and Deloris and two brothers, Edgar and William.
