PASTOUR Allie Pals (1908-2005)

Allie Pastour, 96, of Belmond, died on Friday, February 18, 2005, at the Belmond Medical Center.

Funeral services were held on Monday, February 21, at the Bethany Reformed Church with Rev. Melvin Voss officiating. Interment was in the Alexander
Cemetery.

Allie Pals, the daughter of Dick L. and Elizabeth (Kuper) Pals, was born on December 25, 1908, on her parent's farm in Wright County, near Alexander. She graduated from Alexander High School in 1926. Then she attended Iowa Falls Junior College where she majored in education. Allie married Henry Pastour on February 17, 1932 at the Immanuel Reformed parsonage.

Allie was a homemaker and devoted many years to raising her children. In the mid 1960s she began working at the Ben Franklin Store in Belmond and then at the Belmond Community Hospital. She worked as a nurses aide at the hospital for many years until her retirement at age 72. In recent weeks she was surrounded by the support of her family, friends and the employees at the hospital where she had given the same care to many patients.

For almost 30 years Allie resided at the Belmond Retirement Community Apartments.

Allie and Henry were supportive of their children's many extracurricular activities. In later years Allie enjoyed watching sports on television. She was a loving grandma who received a great deal of satisfaction from times spent playing games with their grandchildren and baby sitting them, Her family will remember her special homemade cookies and handicrafts. She did sewing, clothes alterations and crocheted many gifts.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1968; son, Wayne in 1961; five brothers; and five sisters.

Survivors include sons, Dennis Pastour of Belmond and Vernon (Jane) Pastour of Altoona; a daughter, Norlene (Larry) Main of Buffalo Center; sister, Minnie Mennenga of Belmond; grandchildren, Ron (Amy) Main and their children, Carly and Colton of Buffalo Center, Randy (Monica) Main and their children, Sydney and Hannah of Buffalo Center, Renea (Dan) Mitchell and their son, Mason of Nashua, Tracy (Ernst) Hoffman and their children, Madyson and Zane of Pleasant Hill and Chad (Tiffany) Pastour and their children, Ashley Schroeder and Jenna Pastour of Mitchellville.
