Charles Thomas Campbell, 77, of Alexander, died on Friday, November 8, 2002, at the Good Shepherd Care Center.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, November 10, at the Clear Lake United Methodist Church. Burial was in the Alexander Cemetery with military honors.
Charles was born on August 9, 1925 in Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, a son of Samuel J. and Ethel May (Treweek) Campbell. He served during World War II on a PT boat in the Philippines.
Charles married Helen Mae Perkins on March 29, 1946 in Seattle, Washington. They lived in Alexander from 1961 until 1995. Charles worked as a custodian for the Alexander School District for many years, and in 1974 he began work for the Iowa Department of Transportation.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother; and two sisters.
Charles is survived by five children and their spouses, Gary and Bev Campbell of Cresco, Karen and Craig Bartholomew of Mason City, Jeanne Yerman of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jerry and Jean Campbell of Clear Lake and Don and Rona Campbell of Latimer; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
