EMMA GERDES GERFEN

A memorial service for Emma "Granny" Gerdes Gerfen, 89, will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Meditation Room of Grant Hall at Alaska Pacific University with the Rev. David Fison, Chaplain of Alaska Pacific University officiating.

Mrs. Gerfen died Jan. 16 at Providence Hospital.

Born Nov. 24, 1897, in Sheffield, Iowa, she had lived in Alaska for 14 years. She was a member of the Mabel T. Caverly Senior Center.

Mrs. Gerfen leaves her daughter, Arlene Gipe of Anchorage; a son, Lemoine A. Thomas of Lake Isabella, Calif.; three grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.

Burial will be later in the Sheffield Hillside Cemetery, Sheffield, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be directed to the Mabel T. Caverly Senior Center, Anchorage, 99501.

Service arrangements by the Witzleben Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Bragaw Chapel.
