HAMPTON-Evelyn Jensen, 84, of Hampton died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at the Hampton Health Care Center in Hampton. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 26, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church rural Hampton with Rev. Mary Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made in memory of Evelyn Jensen.
Evelyn was born Jan. 28, 1919, in Franklin County to Anton and Sandra (Pedersen) Hansen. She graduated from Hampton High School and the Iowa School of Beauty in Des Moines. In 1939, Evelyn married Kenneth Schloemer who passed away in 1941. She was united in marriage to Einer N. Jensen on April 5, 1944, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Hampton. Evelyn was employed as a beautician at the Hampton Health Care Center. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, and enjoyed fishing, baking and spending time with her family.
Survivors include three children, Merlyn Schloemer and wife Kathy of Lewisville, Minn., Linda Jensen of Rochester Hills, Mich., and Larry Jensen and wife Jan of Ankeny; four sisters, Rigmor Petrick of Minnetonka, Minn., Arla Nedegaard of Solvang, Calif., Helga Shirley of Fort Myers, Fla., and Elizabeth Christiansen of Carpenteria, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, both husbands and a brother, Erhardt.
