Hansen Earl A. 1929-2008
Earl A. Hansen 79, passed away November 20, 2008, at his home in Hampton, Iowa. He was born April 14, 1929, the son of Ernest and Marie Hansen in rural Coulter.
He was educated in a rural school and graduated from Hampton High School in 1948. On May 5, 1960, he was married to Anna Berghorn with whom one daughter Kathy was born.
Immediately upon graduating from High School he took a position with Corn Belt Power working 40 plus years, interrupted by serving two years as a combat soldier in Korea.
Prior to retirement he started his own electrical company and maintained it until his passing.
He was a lifelong member of St John's Lutheran Church rural Hampton, where he held several leadership positions. In addition to enjoying his family and friends he had a special fondness and commitment to serving the American Legion in a variety of positions through the Hansen-Have Post in Latimer.
He and Anna donated many hours of service to Bethpage Mission at Axtell, Nebraska where their daughter Kathy resided for 34 years. He will be missed by his family and all who knew him.
Earl is survived by his wife Anna Hansen of Hampton, sister Leona & husband Bud Meyer of Coulter, brother Glenn Hansen of Cedar Falls, sister Shirley & husband Loren Reineking of Johnston, niece Sue & husband Richard Blau of Alexander, nephew Jeff & wife Sally Meyer of San Marcos, Texas, nephew Steve Jones of Newton, nephew Scott Hansen of Las Vegas, Nevada, niece Cara & husband Mike Ludemann of Ionia, several great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Kathy in April 2007, sister-in-law Sherrill Hansen in 2004.
