Gladys Ann (Dirksen) Koch, 79, of Sheffield, Iowa, passed away Monday, January 23, 2017, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton in Hampton, Iowa. She was born on July 18, 1937, in Hampton, Iowa, the daughter of Jerry and Rose (Johnson) Dirksen.

Gladys graduated from Hampton High School, class of 1955. She also attended Business School in Mankato, Minnesota. Gladys married Joseph Kinsel on February 8, 1958; he preceded her in death. She then married Delmar Koch on February 5, 1965, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Gladys was the Human Resources Director for Sukup Manufacturing from 1972 until 2012. She was on the Board of Directors of Heartland Credit Union, was active in Women's Circles, was treasurer of Zion St. John Lutheran Church in Sheffield for many years, was part of the Bell Choir and Vocal Choir and was a current member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton. Gladys was also active with the Sourdough Days and Mickey Mouse parade celebrations in Sheffield, heading up the committee for many years.

She enjoyed gardening, canning, freezing, quilting and crocheting. Gladys had a warm heart and was always willing to help those in their time of need.

Gladys is survived by her husband Delmar Koch of Sheffield, children Kirby (Carolyn) Koch of Iowa Falls, Karen (Denny) Feeley of Albert City, Kim (Bob) Jensen of Sheffield, Kent (Cindy) Koch of Sheffield, Steve (Jean) Koch of Fort Dodge, Kae (Rich) Stuhr of Shelby, Patti Hintz of Dexter, Minnesota, Alan (Jodi) Koch of Azel, Texas, mother Rose Dirksen of Hampton, sister Carolyn (Burdeen) Sluiter of Dumont, brother Richard (Carolyn) Dirksen of Hampton, twenty-three grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father Jerry Dirksen, first husband Joseph Kinsel and son Kevin Koch.
