Funeral services for Peter C. Bergman, age
seventy-six, who passed away at his home in
Hampton last Tuesday evening, were held Friday
afternoon at the Bergman home, and at St. Paul's
American Lutheran church, in Hampton. Rev. Leroy
Miller, pastor of the church, was in chage of
the final rites and burial was made in the
Hampton cemetery.

Peter C. Bergman was born December 9th, 1857
in Hanover, Germany, the son of Mr and Mrs. Johann
Bergman. On October 14th, 1881, he was married
to Marie Lindloff, in Germany. They came to
America in Oct. 1883, and settled near Chapin.
In the Spring of 1891, they moved to a farm west
of Latimer, and in 1916, retired from farming
and moved to Hampton.

Preceding Mr. Bergman in death were Mrs.
Bergman, who passed away on April 30, 1921, a
son who died in infancy, and a son, Henry, who
passed away Aug. 20, 1953.

Mr. Bergman is survived by ten children.
Mrs. Mary Dohrman, of Hampton; Mrs. Caroline
Rathman, of Mason City: Mrs. Emma Herman of
Latimer; George Bergman of Hampton: William
Bergman of Hampton; Mrs. Anna Aker of Kenosha,\
Wisconsin; Fred Bergman of Wellsburg; Mrs. Rose
Borcherding of Hampton; Mrs. Etta Armstrong of
Rockford: and Walter Bergman of Hampton.

He was a charter member of the Evangelical
church when it was organized in 1918 in Hampton
and when it was disbanded in Hampton, and the
church bought by St. Paul's American Lutheran
Churchk he became a member of that church.
