Mrs. Lauritzen, 73, Buried at Coulter
Services Held Friday In Lutheran Church

Funeral services for Mrs. Chris Lauritzen, 73, were held on Friday, September 2 at 2:00 p.m., in St John's Lutheran church at Coulter. Rev. Gudmund Petersen, pastor of the church, officiated. Mr. And Mrs. Ezra Miller sang "Nearer My God To Thee" and "Going Down The Valley One By One." Mrs. Russell Hansen accompanied the vocalists and played obsequie music.

Burial was made in the St. John church cemetery at Coulter. Pallbearers were Peter Firgaard, Elmer Weber, Casper Grandt, Carl Christensen, Andrew Deam and Chris Rasmussen. The flowers were cared for by Mrs. Peter Firgaard and Mrs. Carl Christensen. The Wartna funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lauritzen passed away at the Lutheran hospital in Hampton on Tuesday morning, August 30. She had been in failing health for more than two years and was hospitalized two weeks before her death.

Amelia Charlott Jensen, daughter of Chris and Marie Jensen, was born in Viborg, Denmark, on April 5, 1882. She grew to womanhood in that community and was married to Mads Christian Lauritzen there on December 3, 1903.

They came to the United States in 1907 and farmed in the vicinity of Hampton until 1913 when they moved to their farm west of Sheffield which has since been their home.

Mr. and Mrs. Lauritzen observed their 50th wedding anniversary in December, 1953, with open house at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Orval Marts, at Hampton, and dinner served at the home of their daughter, Mrs. John Schmidt, at Thornton.

Mrs. Lauritzen has been a member of the St. John's Lutheran congregation since coming to Franklin county. She is a charter member of the D.S.S No. 124 at Latimer and a member of the Danish club at Clear Lake.

Surviving are her husband, Chris, of Sheffield; six children, Mrs. Felicitas Herman and Burger Lauritzen of Sheffield, Folmer and Mrs. Orval (Asta) Marts of Hampton, Mrs. John (Edith) Schmidt of Thornton, and Mrs. John (Ebbe) Lupton of San Diego, Calif.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A son preceded her in death at the age of two.
Dinner was served at the home by Mmes. Andrew Deam, Harlan Johnson and Earl Rasmussen the day of the funeral.
