Hampton Man Dies After Short Illness
Final Rites Held Today For James Johnson

Funeral services for James Johnson, age seventy-six, who passed away in a hospital, in Des Moines, after a short illness, will be held this afternoon, Thursday, at 1:30 o'clock, at the Johnson funeral home, in Hampton and at 2:00 o'clock, at the St. John's Lutheran Church, in Hamilton township. Rev. Hans Juhl, pastor, will be in charge of the last rites and burial will be made in the church cemetery.

James Johnson was born January 5, 1870, in Sjaemland, Denmark, and came to this country in 1896 and settled in Franklin county where he had spent the remainder of his life. In 1998 he was married to Miss Laura Petersen, who preceded him in death in 1933.

Mr. Johnson is survived by four daughters, Mrs. A.S. Dorf, of Berea, Kentucky, Mrs. Harry G. Schmitt, Miss Hertha Johnson and Mrs. Dewitt Paullus, of Hampton.
