Services for Verner Peterson, 87, Coulter, were held Monday, Oct. 21, at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Hampton. The Rev. Tom Hungerford officiated. Burial was in St. Jon's Cemetery.
Mr. Peterson died Friday, Oct. 18, 1991, at the Hampton health Care Center.

He was born Nov. 3, 1903, to Chris and Marie Peterson. He attended grade school in Franklin County and High school in Solvang, Calif.
On Aug. 5, 1956, he married Carol Bailey at the Little Brown Church.

Mr. Peterson was a farmer in the area. He was a member of St. Jon's Lutheran Church where he served as church board president. He was a president and board member of the co-op and president and 50-year member of Farmers Mutual Insurance of Hardin and Franklin Counties.
Survivors include his wife, Carol, Coulter, two step-daughters, Mrs. Bob Summers, Langly, Ok., and Mrs. Penny Worden, Hampton; one step-son, Gary Bailey, Northwood; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two nephews, Victor Peterson, Freemont, Calif., and John Peterson, Pala Verde, Calif., and one niece, Mrs. Bud Johnson, Long Beach, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha; one step-grandson; and one step-great-grandson.

Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Hampton, was in charge of arrangements.
