Gunnar Hansen, 96, Latimer, passed away Monday March 11, 2013, at the Rehabilitation Ceneter in Hampton.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m., Thursday March 14 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Coulter. Visitation was 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 13 at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Hampton.

Burial was in the Coulter Cemetery with Rev, David Bernhardt, pastor, officiating.

Gunnar was born on Sept. 6, 1916, in rural Coulter to Hans Christian and Egede (Petersen) Hansen.

He was united in marriage on March 15, 1940, to Verna Johansen in rural Latimer.

Gunnar farmed from 1940 to 1955, and the he moved to Latimer and owned and operated Hansen Motor and Implement. He was a member of Nazareth Lutheran church in Coulter. He enjoyed his cars (rarely dirty), Iowa Hawkeyes and whatever Verna wanted to do.

Gunnar is survived by his son Marshall and wife Linda, Franklin, Tenn., daughter Norene Selles, Jackson, Miss.; grandchildren Stephanie and husband James Tickner, Mandeville, La,; Scott and wife Kim Hansen, West Des Moines, Michelle and husband Mark Meyer, Johns Creek, Ga,; Stacie and husband Bill Andrews of New Orleans, La; great-grandchildren Emily, Hartwell, Ryan, Jane, Anna, Lillie, Jill, twins Ben and Ally and sister Irma Hansen, Hampton.

He was preceded in death by parents, wife, two brothers and one sister.
